The short version
Days until Xmas is a free Christmas countdown. There are no accounts, no sign-up and no login, so we never ask you for your name, email address or a password. We do not sell personal data. The site is funded by advertising, which is why you see ads on the page.
What stays on your own device
The countdown itself runs entirely in your browser. To show the days, hours, minutes and seconds until Christmas, the page reads the clock and the timezone settings of your device. Nothing from that calculation is sent to us.
To remember which doors of the advent calendar you have already opened, the site saves one small entry in your browser's local storage. It stays on your device until you clear your browser data, and it contains no personal information — just the numbers of the doors you opened and the year.
What we collect
We do not store personal data on our servers. The only exception is when you choose to email us: we then receive your email address and whatever you write, and we keep it only as long as needed to answer you and handle your request.
Advertising and cookies
This site is supported by Google AdSense. Google and its partners act as third-party vendors and use cookies — including the DoubleClick cookie — to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. These cookies are set by Google, not by us, and we do not have access to the information they contain.
You can control personalised advertising at any time. Turning it off does not remove ads, but it stops your browsing history from being used to choose them.
Consent in Europe
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you are shown a consent message before advertising cookies are set, and you can refuse or withdraw that consent at any time from the same message. Without consent you may still see non-personalised advertising.
Other third parties
Two services outside our control are loaded when a page opens: Google AdSense, for advertising, and Google Fonts, for the typefaces used on the site. Loading them means your browser contacts Google's servers, which may see your IP address and browser details. Our sitemap and robots files are plain text and involve no tracking. Social sharing buttons only open the sharing page of the network you choose — they do not run any tracking script on this site.
Your rights
Because we hold almost no data about you, there is usually nothing for us to show. If you have emailed us, you may ask us at any time to show you what we hold, to correct it, or to delete it — write to the address on our contact page and we will act on your request.
If you are in the European Union, you also have the right to object to processing and to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.
Children
The countdown is a family-friendly page, but it is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If how the site works changes in a way that affects your privacy — for example, if we add a newsletter or new analytics — we will update this page and change the date shown at the top. Continuing to use the site after an update means you accept the current version.
